The Watch

There is a watch that has no numbers. When I was a busy office worker, it told me the time in line with my expectation. I knew when to have lunch, and when to go home. Then I lost my job. I almost sold that watch. How stupid to own a tool that dictated how to manage tasks I no longer had to accomplish.

As I wallowed in despair, I stared at the watch. That was when I noticed the second hand. It did not tick. It glided. I was led into a vision. The face was a pool, and I was a diver. As I plunged deeper and deeper I came to an understanding. I was learning how to wait.

The watch for waiting does not have numbers. The second hand does not tick. It glides. The watch is an object.

The watch that is an action calls me to a second chance. It calls me to new beginnings. I could not see it when I was in a hurry. I could only perceive it when I stopped and looked at the watch that once told me the time.
